I was watching MMA when you were in your father's nutsack - UFC star Sean Strickland hilarious

UFC middleweight Sean Strickland was well and truly put in his place for questioning journalist Ariel Helwani’s love of mixed martial arts.

Strickland is fresh off a late-notice and much-needed win over Nassourdine Imavov at UFC Vegas 67 after suffering back-to-back defeats in 2022.

On Wednesday, the 31-year-old appeared on Helwani’s long-running show -The MMA Hour – to discuss his recent victory and his plans for the rest of 2023.

Strickland, who has previously admitted he is not stable enough to be giving interviews, got himself into a spot of bother when he suggested his interviewer isn’t a true fan of the sport.

He said: "I don't know how you got this job, you should be like a golf commentator, a golf analyst. I want to know how you got in the MMA world.

“I don't think you're a big MMA fan. If this wasn't your job, I don't think you would be at the bar with the boys watching motherf***ers get knocked out."

Helwani, who has been covering the sport for more than 20 years, took offence to those comments and fired back at Strickland by going on a hilarious rant about his history in MMA.

The popular journalist replied: "I was at the bar watching MMA when you were in your father's nutsack, when you didn't even know what the f*** MMA was, I was talking about MMA.

“I was doing a radio show at Syracuse University in 2001. How old were you in 2001? You were in fourth grade when I was talking about MMA."

“I was hosting an MMA show when it wasn’t even f***ing cool, when you were going out there taking two bottles of [beer] and smashing them together causing trouble.

“I was campaigning and fighting for this sport to be covered by people when you didn’t even know what f***ing MMA stood for.

“Do your f***ing research, man. I was on the front f***ing lines of this sport, creating jobs, doing interviews and going to bulls*** events when you were in the parking lot doing wheelies and donuts.”

After seeing how animated Helwani got, Strickland quickly backed down from the topic and admitted he ‘liked the fire’ the 40-year-old responded with.

‘Tarzan’ will enjoy a little rest before returning to the gym and getting ready to make a run at the 185lb title currently held by Alex Pereira who knocked him out last year before dethroning Israel Adesanya a few months later.
